    Workout Length Vs. Intensity
     
    The higher the intensity of your #workout, the more calories you will burn.
     
    Everyone knows that right? Sure...but do we practice it?
     
    Working out at a low to moderate intensity for 60-90 minutes will #burnfat but not at the level that gets you to your #goals as effectively as shorter, more intense cardio exercising or cardio #kickboxing will.
     
    If you intensify the workout you can achieve greater results in less time.
     
    For example, if you are a beginner at exercising, add 100 floors on the StairMaster for 30 minutes to your #exercise program. If you are a more advance athlete, then add 160 floors on the StairMaster for just 20 minutes.

    What does it take to get a “Rockin” body? It doesn’t take spending hour after hour at the gym. You have to fuel the engine too.
     
    #Nutrition counts for 80% of how your body will respond to your #fitnessprogram
     
    If you do not eat properly i.e., balanced meals, you will not see the desired results and you may burn out!
     
    Assuming good nutrition is in place, then while you are at the #gym (or at home or outdoors) choose #workouts that opt for interval or circuit style training. Intervals or circuit workouts get your heart rate up in short spurts several times.

    Drink a minimum daily consumption of 3 – 4 litres of water.

    The one question I get asked having successfully achieved my personal fitness goal is, “how did you do it”? What they are really asking is how did you keep a positive attitude, especially when you first started.
     
    My best answer would be, the tortoise not the hare! A “slow burn” approach gives your mindset the opportunity to adjust to the psychology of the NEW YOU look. Also, slow gradual results will do less harm to your body.
     
    Fitness is about a permanent change in lifestyle.
     
    When it hurts REMEMBER this... the discomfort of the journey it takes to get fit is far less difficult to manage then the day to day discomfort of being obese.

    Typically 80% of New Year’s Resolutions come apart by January 21 of every year....IMAGINE what happens after February 21.

    1 tuna steak and about 1 1/4 cups salad)-
     
    Root vegetables are a super popular side in the winter, usually roasted until fully tender. But shaving them raw into a side dish salad is a fantastic alternative. They’re ready in just a few minutes, their earthy flavors stay vibrant, and a simple vinaigrette tenderizes them slightly while retaining a little crunch, balancing the velvety tuna. A mild olive oil that won’t compete with the vegetables or the tuna works here. Rice vinegar is not as tangy as other varieties. If you prefer a little more bite, try white wine or apple cider vinegar.

    3/4 teaspoon Dijon mustard

    4 ounces baby turnips, thinly shaved
    1 (6-oz.) Granny Smith apple, very thinly sliced
    2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
    4 (6-oz.) tuna steaks
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    1 tablespoon torn fennel fronds

    How to Make It:

    Combine 2 tablespoons oil, vinegar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, mustard, and honey in a large bowl. Add beets, fennel, turnips, and apple; toss to coat. Sprinkle salad with sesame seeds.-
     
    Heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil in a cast-iron skillet over high. Sprinkle tuna with pepper and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt; place in hot pan. Cook 90 seconds on both sides (for rare) or until desired degree of doneness. Remove tuna from pan. Slice thinly, and serve with salad; top with fennel fronds.
