5 days ago by Bloor Animal Hospital TorontoEver wonder what urinary crystals look like in a urine sample? Here's a picture we took of a sample we had this week. You can see the struvite crystals very clearly in this sample. Sruvite crystals are quite common in dog and cat urine, on their own are usually not a problem. They can become an issue if they bind together which can lead to a urethral blockage or bladder stone.5 days ago
I have to cats with struvite crystals...one male and the other female..the Male already got blocked twice already...

2 weeks ago by Bloor Animal Hospital TorontoDid you know...Cats and dogs have three eye lids?! You may have seen it when your pet is relaxed. This third eye lid helps to keep the cornea clean, produces tears, produces antibodies which helps fight infection and protects the eye from injury. Other animals have this third eye lid....can anyone name some of them?2 weeks ago
I did actually know that. When I was in junior high, myself and another student from my class got to spend the day with a local vet. We got to watch a cat’s eye surgery. And that’s why I became a lawyer.

3 weeks ago by Bloor Animal Hospital TorontoWith the upcoming holiday, comes celebrations and Fireworks. This is fun for humans, but can be scary for our pets. If you have a pet that is nervous with loud noises or a new pet that you are unsure of their reaction, keep them indoors. Keep dogs on short leashes while on quick bathroom breaks. You can also try a Thundershirt which is designed to make them feel secure. This can be especially effective when paired with Adaptil which is an appeasing pheromone spray that helps them feel safe. Both products are available through your veterinarian and are safe to use. Keep your pets safe and secure during the holiday celebrations. *Special thanks to Freddy for being our model <3

7 weeks ago by Bloor Animal Hospital TorontoThank you Tiffani! Tiffani joined our team over 6 years ago. Primarily you will find her at reception, but she often helps in the treatment room too. Her clear love of animals and ability to multitask makes her an asset to our team. She has a special place in her heart for the senior pets and when she's not helping our clients at the desk we will often find her cuddling the pets here in the hospital. Thank you Tiffani for all your hard work and dedication! 🐱🌷
