CYKL is Toronto’s first exclusively RealRyder™ indoor cycling studio. CYKL offers daily group classes designed to get you ‘real fit, real fast’. The revolutionary RealRyder™ bike  adds a whole new range of motions, allowing you to turn, lean and steer like never before on a spinning bike. It truly redefines the  traditional spinning workout and is the closest thing to actually being  on the road.

A CYKL coach will lead you and your class through a uniquely designed, intense and fun 45 minute workout set to pounding, inspiring music. Our classes will tone your legs and arms, strengthen your core, improve your balance and offer an unrivaled cardio workout. CYKL’s distinctive coaching style will also provide you with an athletic workout that builds the transferable sports and fitness skills you’ll need  the next time you hit the slopes, courts, surf or road.

    Tomorrow is one of our amazing instructor’s last day with us. Heather is moving to Burlington (as well as welcoming a little one!) and will no longer be teaching regularly with us (though we have convinced her to stay on the sub list 😉)⠀

    Now, last but not least — here are the benefits of our TRX classes:⠀

    TRX is a fun and effective way to add strength training to your exercise regime. Using your own body weight against the suspension trainer, there isn’t a muscle you can’t work!
     
    It really can be an effective full body workout that compliments your already kickass cycling routine. It’s an effective, physiologically safe strength training workout that shows pretty fast strength gains.
     
    The other advantage to TRX is, like our Realryder bikes, your core is activated and working during every exercise.

    Next up, our endurance classes: CYKL Endurance 60/75. ⠀

    An endurance class is a class done strictly in the aerobic energy system. You’re trying to increase aerobic capacity — this is the foundation of your fitness. Without a strong foundation, you cannot achieve harder intense efforts.
     
    These rides are about a steady state effort for longer periods of time. Aerobic benefits don’t really kick in until 20 min into the workout, which is why endurance rides should be 1 hour or more.
     
    Endurance training teaches your body to burn fat as a fuel source. Fat is a slow burn and requires oxygen to be utilized, so watching your intensity during these classes is imperative! You shouldn’t be any higher than a 6/10.
     
    Believe it or not, the zone in which you are most efficient in fat burning is 4/10 (or zone 2), so if you feel like you’re not working hard enough, remind yourself you’re burning fat!

    So, let’s start with the benefits of our interval classes: CYKL45 mixed terrain, intervals and CYKL30 Plus.

    An ‘interval’ by definition is where you increase and decrease the intensity of your workout between or lower (aerobic) and higher intensities. The idea is to push your body past the aerobic threshold, then return to your aerobic conditioning level with the objective of improving your performance.
     
    Generally, you don’t want the body to completely recover between intervals. Shorter rest periods ramp up the intensity because recovery is incomplete & your heart rate remains elevated when the next interval begins.
     
    HIIT (High Intensity Intervals) can help to increase aerobic endurance, anaerobic tolerance, muscle mass and fat burn by pushing short, intense MAX efforts followed by short periods of recovery.
     
    All of the benefits happen in the 24-36 hours after a HIIT class as your body is recovering — meanings you continue to reap the benefits of your class long after you finish sweating!
