As one of the pioneering yoga studios in Toronto, Downward Dog continues to offer instruction to students looking to practice and learn the principles of Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga. Since the doors opened in 1997, our main focus has been to inspire and encourage students in a life-long practice that is sustainable, enjoyable and in alignment with the yoga practice as a whole. Our community has been built on the diversity of our students, a kind and respectful atmosphere, and classes that are informed at every level of practice.
We have been offering Teacher Training Programs since 1997, and many of our graduates have gone on to teach and open yoga studios in Toronto and surrounding areas. Studio owners, Ron Reid and Marla Meenakshi Joy, have been teaching internationally and have brought an international presence to the studio and training programs.

Week one will concentrate on breathing and the diaphragms of the body. See you on October 15th at 3 pm! Photo Cred: Jessica Blaine Smith

Today is the United Nations’ International Day of Non-Violence and the late Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. Gandhi pioneered nonviolence as a philosophy and an ideal way of life. In his honour, we make a commitment to act lovingly towards one another and adopt the principle of Ahimsa, embracing universal love and compassion.
